Following Bishop’s request for renewal, small groups meet at parish homes to
discuss living and sharing Catholic Faith or RENEW.  Desire for a place to
conveniently gather socially was discussed with serious intent.  Need to assure
the soundness of the church building was first priority.

1998                First renovation meeting. Fundraisers became a way of life for this parish of
                    approximately 45 family  members.

1999-2001     Fr. Dan Kreutzer, pastor, Studies on how to renovate the building continue.  Fr.
Kreutzer envisioned a historical complex, but was not shared by many parish

with intense and passionate resistance from parishioners. Despite considerable
interventions, the Church Renovation began in the fall and was completed by
Holy Saturday, Mass presided by Fr. Hagman.  Cost of Church renovations
totaled $140,000.00.  Renovation included from the front doors up to, the
sanctuary.  The apex of the church was stripped down to brick walls, re-
insulated and new walls erected. (Lanham Brothers of Owensboro, KY)  The
exterior walls were seriously leaning outward as is visible by the slant now seen
in each window. Each pew shortened approximately ten inches because of
loss of space. The choir loft wall was enclosed. Church electrically rewired and
new sound system installed Ceramic tile was placed in the foyer.  The restroom
was reconstructed, newly furbished and a ceramic tile floor included. The
sanctuary and sacristy walls and ceil-ing were not included in renovation
because the original hope was to add a new two-level parish hall adjoining to
this area.  For monetary reasons, the Diocese of Owensboro would not
                    approve this plan.
