Annual Basket dinner attended by approximately 600 people,. Over 250
people joined with trail master Nace Mason with a seven mile trail ride to the
Ohio River at

The St. Ambrose Rectory, rented as a residence since July, 1966 to Jack and
Chris Weber family, burned in December,
1973. The Henshaw Fire Department
put out the fire before significant damage
was done. Sadly, the decision was
made to tear down the home instead of rebuilding.

Indoor restroom built in the left sacristy of church.
For the purpose of joint parish children’s religious education, St. Ambrose
contributes significantly toward addition for newly named St. Francis Borgia/St.
Ambrose Parish Hall in Sturgis.
1983 St. Ambrose 150 year celebration.
1987 Picnic shelter built on grounds near area of the old rectory.

5/28/1988 Freddie Byrd, St. Ambrose parish member ordained a priest by
Bishop
John J. McRaith.
1988-1994 Father Albert Reed, pastor 9/1/1988-1/15/1994
1990
Through the dedicated work of Mary Dayberry, the Kentucky Heritage
Council
designates St. Ambrose a
preservation.
1994-1997
Father Terry Devine, pastor

Father Terry, is agreement with council, hires Sr. Marcan Freking as pastoral
associate for St. Ambrose and
New heating/air conditioning system installed in church
1997-1999
Father Carl McCarthy, pastor 6/28/1997-1999
Following Bishop’s request for renewal, small groups meet at parish homes to
discuss living and sharing Catholic Faith or RENEW.
Desire for a place to
conveniently gather socially was discussed with serious intent.
Need to assure
the soundness of the church building was first priority.
1998
First renovation meeting. Fundraisers
became a way of life for this parish of
approximately 45 family members.
1999-2001
Fr. Dan Kreutzer, pastor, Studies on how to renovate the building
continue. Fr.
Kreutzer envisioned a historical complex, but was not shared by many parish
members. Fundraising continues.
First annual Biker Breakfast, held July, 1999, at
parish hall in Sturgis.
2001-2002 Fr. Joseph O’Donnel Renovation studies and fundraising continue.
2002-2003
Fr. Bruce Fogel
Fr. Fogel’s advice to sell a portion of the farm to pay for the project was met
with intense and passionate resistance from parishioners. Despite considerable
interventions, the Church Renovation began in the fall and was completed by
Holy Saturday, Mass presided by Fr. Hagman.
Cost of Church renovations
totaled $140,000.00. Renovation
included from the front doors up to, the
sanctuary. The apex of the church
was stripped down to brick walls, re-
insulated and new walls erected. (Lanham Brothers of
exterior walls were seriously leaning outward as is visible by the slant now
seen
in each window. Each pew shortened approximately ten inches because of
loss of space. The choir loft wall was enclosed. Church electrically rewired and
new sound system installed Ceramic tile was placed in the foyer.
The restroom
was reconstructed, newly furbished and a ceramic tile floor included. The
sanctuary and sacristy walls and ceil-ing were not included in renovation
because the original hope was to add a new two-level parish hall adjoining to
this area. For monetary reasons, the
Diocese of Owensboro would not
approve this plan.
First Mass was on Holy Saturday, presided by Fr. Hagman
2002 First annual Trembling Timbers fundraiser held three weekends in October, 2002
2003-2005
Fr. Richard Cash, pastor 6/16/2003-6/15/2005
Church renovation project paid in full.
Dream for Parish Hall pursued. Diocesan
five-yearloan of $250,000.00
for construction of St. Ambrose Parish Hall,
affectionately nicknamed "The Barn” .
Project completed October, 2004.

2005-present
Father Larry McBride, pastor 6/16/2005
Father Larry was raised near Waverly, and belonged to Waverly, KY.
He
attended St. Peter’s
and attended seminary at
presence to our parish communities.
Monthly payment of $4,397 have been met
consistently. Final payment due
December, 2009.
