1829             Father Elisha Durbin founded St. Ambrose Catholic Church in 1829.
                    Original enrollment was fifteen families

1832             Spring of 1832 St. Ambrose Catholic Church constructed

1832-1860     Father Elisha traveled a large span of area. Father Edward A. Clark was
                    an associate pastor until

1860-1875     St. Ambrose becomes a mission of St. Agnes Church, Uniontown, KY 

   St. Ambrose operated a school, known as “Number 21” in the church. This         
    school was a part of the Union County operating system.

1875-1888     Father Theodore Kellenaers, of Holland, was pastor for St. Ambrose. It is
                    recorded that Father would borrow a plow horse from Henry and
                    Herman Eckman to visit the sick.

1877             Father Kellenaers built the first rectory of St. Ambrose. He is also credited for
                    erecting the first school house on the land. [see Bardstown

                    Archives, Notre Dame University]

1882             Seven and one-half acres deeded for $217.97 from Mr. & Mrs. Henry Francis to
                    the Diocese of Louisville. This land became and remains the parish cemetery
                    (2007)

1887-1889     St. Ann’s Church of Morganfield becomes a mission church to St. Ambrose

1888             Father J.F.A. Donahue pastor from 9/16-10/07/1888
                    Father Patrick Walsh pastor from 10/8/1888 to 11/2/1889

1899-1910     Father Joseph Odendahl—10/15/1899-5/29/1910
                     St. Ambrose Church receives third addition. (Second addition date unknown).
                    This addition includes extended sides and new sanctuaries/sacristies.
                  
                    Diamond Jubilee Celebration— The jubilee festivities lasted one week with a
                    mission presided by Father Charles Cassidy, of the Passionist Order. Catholics
                    and non
-Catholics attended this week long celebration. The celebration 
                    ended with Mass and included the blessing of a life size figure of our Lord’s
                    body.
                    Maria Logsdon, of St. Ambrose takes vows at Maple Mount, becoming Sister
                    Mary Uriel.

1910-1913     Father Francis X. Havelburg, pastor 8/28/1910-5/23/1913

1913-1915     St. Ambrose mission to St. Ann’s, 6/16/1913-5/01/1915. Pastor, Father Charles E.
                    Rahm

1916-1918     Fr. Joseph Newman, pastor 8/15/1916-11/14/1918
                    10/14/1918, Six and one
-half acres deed to Bishop D.O. Donahue of Louisville,
                    KY by T.E. Kibby of Henshaw, KY. Sixty dollars paid on that dated, balance of
                    five hundred dollars due on 1/1/1919.

1918-1919     Fr. Charles E. Rahm, pastor 11/14/1918-11/23/1919
                    12/5/1918 a Mass was held for the ten men of Union County serving in the
                    military.  Two of these men died in this war.

1919-1920     Father Joseph Fitzgibbon, pastor from 11/23/1919-2/7-1920
                    Father Fitzgibbon was a former parishioner of St. Ambrose church and    
                    attended St. Ambrose school in 1885. Under his guidance, a school reunion was
                    held 8/9/1919.

                    Thomas Handley Heavrin built and installed the St. Ambrose Cemetery crucifix.

                    1933 Plot of land adjoining Cemetery deeded for fifty dollars between Union
                    Bank and Trust Company of Morganfield, KY, and Bishop John A. Floersh of
                    Louisville Holy Name Society organized at St. Ambrose.
                   
                    February of 1937 records the worse flood in the history of Union County aka
                    “The ‘37 Flood"

          
                    -1947 Mission status under St. Ann Church Morganfield. Pastors: Father Delphin

                    S
t. Ambrose Parish transferred from Diocese of Louisville under Bishop John
                    Floersh to Diocese of Owensboro, under Bishop Francis R. Cotton.

1946-1949     Father Frank M. Ward, pastor from 4/13/1946-6/11/1949

1949-1962     Father Pius Edelen, pastor from 6/18/1949-7/1/1962

1952             St. Ambrose Parish was divided by Owensboro Bishop Francis R. Cotton to
                    form the parish
of St. Francis Borgia, in Sturgis, KY

1956             St. Ambrose replaces wooden floor with concrete floor and refurbishes with
                    communion rail, pews and stations of the cross obtained from St. Michael’s
                    Parish in Rome, KY.

1957             St. Ambrose Celebrates 125th anniversary.  Mass by Msgr. Joseph Gelllefinger
                    of Lebanon, former pastor of St. Ambrose.  Sermon delivered by the widely
                    beloved Msgr. John M. Higgins, pastor of Sacred Heart Parish, Waverly, KY.  A
                    basket dinner followed Mass.

1962-1965    Father Leonard Reisz, pastor from 7/11/1962-12/19/1965

1963            Rectory built and Pastor’s residence moved,  at St. Francis Borgia.
